The goal of this course is to reflect literature in the context of "visual" or "multimedial" culture. The term intermedial studies covers interdisciplinary research of mutual relations between arts with methodological basis in literary semiotics; it uses the knowledge from history of art, aesthetics and wide field of cognitive research. Intermedial approach brings not just inovation into the literary interpretation but it also allows to zoom in the cognition of antropologically, culturally and historically set possibilities of literal and art representation of our experience, as well as cognition of presumptions and processes of art work perception. After completing the course the student will be able to think about literature in relation to other kinds of art and to understand the functioning of literature in the broader cultural context.
The student is able to reflect literature in the broader context of other kinds of art and broader cultural context; he can understand various functions of art now and in the past; understand an art work in communication proces; apply general theoretical (Intermedial) starting points in the interpretation of particular literary works.
