Course content
1. Radio report and radio news - listening and basic evaluation. 2. TV report and TV news - observation with evaluation. 3. Requirements for language of reports - functional journalistic style. 4. Analysis of spoken news - public TV. 5. Analysis of spoken news - public TV. 6. Classification of deficiencies in speech of announcers with focus on sound features. 7. Evaluation of deficiencies in speechof preachers with focus on the choice of vocabulary. 8. Evaluation of deficiencies in sentence structure of spoken news 9. Stylization exercises. 10. Reading report with respect to knowledge of the ortoepy rules. 11. Reading report in fast pace with use of melodic and power features. 12. Speech rate - measuring the pauses and stretches of speech (PC programm Praat). 13. Influence of articulation rate on deformation of pronounciation. Listening test. 14. Final evaluation.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to understand the importance of language knowledge, its operating and affecting listeners and spectators. Students learn the methods of analysis and evaluation of spoken news and to approach to the spoken news not just as to conscious activity of a journalist but also as to concrete, visible and audible result of his activity.
Student is well orientated in the genre of news (classical, acoustic, reportage news), he knows the methods of linguistic analysis and is able to apply them in the analysis of spoken news, is able to objectively evaluate the newscast, he is aware of the complex action of the verbal and nonverbal features, he can handle separate preparation of the spoken news reports (television, radio) and its presentation before an audience with regard to general requirements (objectivity, speed, accuracy, balance, choice of vocabulary, voice modulation).
