Course content
1. Basic terminology. 2. Editor, goals of his work. 3. Textual sources and documentary material. 4.-5. Types of editions and their arrangment. 6.-7. Determination of the source text. Criticism of the source text. Canonical text. 8.-9. Editoring the text for publishing. 10. Arrangement of individual files and individual volumes. 11. Commentaries. 12.-13. Today's situation of critically prepared editions. 14. Final summary and evaluation.

Learning outcomes
The goal of this course is to obtain basic information about the work of the editor and demonstrate the ability of individual editory work. During the seminars are firstly introduced the principles of text-critical work (attention turned to the problems of determining the source text, determining the canonical text, edit the text for publication, setout of files and volumes of work, preparation of comments). Editorial technique is then practically applied on specific text - students are participating in preparation of minor edtions from older or newer literature during the seminars. The end of the course (in relation to the granting of credits) is under discussion and evaluation of submitted texts.
Student has a basic knowledge from the field of proofreading, editorial and text-critical work, he understands basic textological terms, he orientate himself in the editorial note, understands the principles of editorial work, is able to assist in preparing the text for publication.
Prerequisites
knowledge of the field on the level of GCSE exam knowledge of disciplines connected to the central domain of study knowledge of appropriate terminology
