Course content
|
1. Introduction to Law (law concept and legal standards, public and private regulation, the fields of rights). 2. Creating and sources of law (legislative process, pyramid of legal force, basic principles of law). 3. Separation of powers, the rule of law (division of power in the state, the impact of the judicial power on the legislation). 4. Legal acts and legal reality in practice (theory of legal act, legal fact). 5. Selected chapters of civil rights. 6. Civil and commercial obligations. 7. Theory of companies (types of companies, responsibility relations within the company). 8. Labour relations (basic aspects of the employment relationship, rights and obligations of the employer). 9. Principles of European Law (Functioning of the EU, its institutions). 10. Introduction to Criminal Law. 11. Selected chapters of media law (concept, subjects, legal consequences of infringement); regulation of public media. 12. Legal regulation of advertising in the private and public media. 13. Current trends in Czech law and European Union law. 14. End - preparation for the exam.

Learning outcomes
|
This course is focsed on basics aspects of law in Czech republic with the emphasis on practical knowledge. Students will have basic awarness about functioning of the legal system and judiciary after the course. With regard to specializations the problematics of public media and its legal status, legislation of advertisiment and also the protection of personality topic are incorporated in the course. The course is closed with written exam.
Student is familiar with the current development trends in the field of freedom of expression in today's media, knows the principles of advertising and public regulation of private regulation of unfair competition.
