Learning outcomes
The subject is in linkup to Syntax I focused on cognition of theoretical basics of hypersentence and textual syntax. An integral part is the work with various communiqués, especially written journalistic, administrative, advertising and professional texts.
Students can identify over-sentential syntactical phenomena and explain the principles of their functioning in the text; distinguish various types of connectors and their place in the isotopic chains in the text; describe the main word order factors and clarify their influence on the order of the words in the sentence and sentential sequence; clarify the role of the thematical and rhematical sequences in the text construction; distinguish syntactic features characteristic for spoken respectively written linguistic utterances; identify and explain the intentional and unintentional textual modification of the statement. Student is able to use richer repertoire of stylistically appropriate syntactic features in his written and spoken speech; correct punctuation errors and explain why they occurred; point out the syntactical deficiencies of spoken or written speech, explain their nature and correct them; respect that even text (not just sentence) has its own syntax.
