Course content
1. What is Political Science? Significant workplaces and personalities in Czech Republic. 2. Political philosophy. 3. Democracy. 4. State establishments and political regimes. 5. Political ideologies. 6. Political parties and their systems. 7. Elections and elective systems. 8. Lobbing and interest groups. 9. Civil society and social movements. 10. Europian integration and EU. 11. Communal policy. 12. Political radicalism and extremism. 13. Security policy.

Learning outcomes
This course introduces students to political science; objective of the course is to provide students with basic information about the operation of the policy and political systems in the context of modern democratic regimes. The gained capability should be the ability to understand the problems of actual political world in broader context. Requirement for completion of the course is to prepare a seminar paper on pre-consulted topic. The exam is written, control of knowledge is done by a written test.
Student understands the focus of the discipline; he orientate himself in the subject, subfields and methods of the discipline, he has an idea about terms as policy and political thinking, he has a basic overview of political activities and their forms in CR.
Prerequisites
knowledge of the field on the level of GCSE exam knowledge of disciplines connected to the central domain of study knowledge of appropriate terminology
