Course content
1. Czech National Corpus, principles of electronical language corpuses settings, sort of corpuses, elementar terminology and terms. 2. Participation of journalistic texts on settings of electronical language corpuses and specialized corpuses of Czech journalistic editions. 3. Presentation of Czech National Corpus (ČNK) and its documentation. Introducing of corpus´ manager and its settings. Preview of tasks. 4. Graphical creation of questions. Solutions of training tasks. 5. "Projection" function of sources, atributes, structures, conception and extension of researched units. Methods of saving acquired information, its reduction or cancellation. 6. Methods of linguistic material classification. 7. Approaches to statistical functions of Corpus - frequency distribution, collocations, laying out. 8. Work with "named questions" and with "patterns". 9. Constitution of subcorpuses of magazines every single year´s and work with them. 10. Constitution of concrete newspapers and magazines. 11. Using of Czech National Corpus informations in case of monitoring linguistic phenomenons and its potenciality. 12. Using of Czech National Corpus informations in case of creative writing and even for reporter´s practice. 13. Using of Czech National Corpus informations in case of politological and even sociological research. 14. Appraisal of student´s work.

Learning outcomes
This course introduces the biggest electronic database of Czech language - Czech National Corpus (which synchronous version includes even 1 2000 000 textual words). Knowledge of work with Corpus is important for every editor and reporter, writer, translator even media staff, as well as for wide scale of interested stuff from other branches. In addition to knowledge of special Corpus terms and choice of every each function of Corpus, student by degrees continues to various excercises, which research incidence, using, collocability, frequency of various words, its forms or dublets, grammatical and stylistical phenomenons in language of current journalistic. This teaching uses full online version of Czech National Corpus.
Students are able to work competently with electronic database ČNK, they are able to source linguistic material according to assigned parameters and criterions and then study and analyse its various linguistic, socio-linguistic and politological-linugistic aspects and acts according to language of current Czech newspapers and other journalistic texts.

knowledge of the field on the level of GCSE exam knowledge of disciplines connected to the central domain of study knowledge of appropriate terminology
