Course content
1. Terms: word, appellation. Vocabulary and its composition. Structures of vocabulary. 2. World as semiotic space, the position of language inside this. 3. Analysis and describing of words meaning, its reception in dictionary. Equipment of password in dictionary; work with dictionaries. Dictionaries of Czech language. 4. Expanding and transitiv of word meaning, generation and development of polysemy. 5. Position of synonymy and antonymia in communication: Hyperonymy, hyponymy, kohyponymy. Expanding of vocabulary by formating fixed compound collocations. 6. Expanding of vocabulary by taking over words from foreign languages. 7. - 10. Derivation. 11. - 12. Composing of words. 13. Abbreviations and abbreviation of words. Current development tendencies in area of Czech vocabulary. 14. Current development tendencies of Czech language vocabulary.

Learning outcomes
Student gets complex of necessary knowledge and skills, which he/she could use in profession as announcer, author and/or editor of journalistic texts, as press agent of national, self-governing even private institutions, even as advertising agent or editor of printed, electronical or audiovisual media. This course includes education about vocabulary (lexical systém) in the largest meanings, so even Czech word formation.
Student has elemental knowledge of lexicology and word formation terms; knows current vocabulary of Czech language; even knows methods and means of enrichment vocabulary of Czech language; works with monolingual dinctionary of Czech language; knows how to apply theoretical knowledge of lexicology and word formation to his/her own speech.
Prerequisites
knowledge of the field on the level of GCSE exam knowledge of disciplines connected to the central domain of study knowledge of appropriate terminology
