Course content
1. - 2. Genre of short story, genre variants, constitutive features of the genre, narration in the short story; text-types in the short story; 3. evolution and transformation of Czech short story; 4. - 5. folk literature books (interpretation of the short story by V. R. Kramerius); 6. - 7. evolution of historical short story (interpretation of Mácha's, Tyl's short stories); 8. - 9. Neruda's short story; continuous summary of observations, characterization of short storiy in the 19th century.; 10. - 11. interpretation of a modern short story (Vancura, Čapek); 12. - 13. interpretation of a contemporary short story (Bohumil Hrabal's short story, Macura: Něžnými drápky); micro story genre. Summarization of findings.

Learning outcomes
The seminar is set up as a collective interpretation of the canonical works of the Czech short story genre. Attention is placed both on period attributes and authors' poetics, but also on the transformations of the genre paradigm. Interpretive community of students is governed by the needs of the future practice at high school.
The student acquires interpretive competences, confronts a collective analysis of a literary text with a plurality of interpretations in a group, learns argumentation and cultivated disputation. Acquires knowledge from historical poetics area.
Prerequisites
knowledge of the field on the level of GCSE exam knowledge of disciplines connected to the central domain of study knowledge of appropriate terminology
