Learning outcomes
|
Most of the times, the subject focuses on writings of Franz Kafka, but we also turn attention to proses of other German writers who were either born or were living in Czech area at the end of nineteenth and at the beginning of twentieth century (for example: Franz Werfel, Max Brod and Gustav Meyrink). Students of the subject will get basic information about basic theoretical literature connected to the topic. The main content of each lesson is analyses and interpretation of stories and novels.
Student is able to independently intertpret literary texts, use the secondary literature, apply the knowledge about the structure of a literary work, use the relevant literary terms. Student can describe the meaning of interpretated texts, compare and evaluate different interpretations of the same text, reveal misinterpretations. The student has acquired knowledge of authors writing in German living in the early 20th century in Prague and their literary work.
