Learning outcomes |
The subject presents basic insight into the contemporary theory of film adaptation. During the subject, we work with different methodical attitudes to research of literature in film and we watch film adaptations and put them into wide cultural and historical context. We´ll demythologise widespread attitude to adaptations and their rating according to measure of identity of adaptation with the original. Theoretical theses will be verified during interpretation of concrete literary works and their adaptation (that means famous Czech and Foreign literature and cinematography pieces).
After completing the course, students will be able to understand the basic problems of adaptation transcripts, especially different types of relationships between literature and film, and he acquires basic methodological concepts through which he will be able to think about adaptations. He will also understand the problems of adaptation in the broader context of intermedial and intercultural studies. |
