Learning outcomes
This subject is a general introduction to study of language and communication. The course contents basic information about history of linguistics, summary of principal language theories and theories of philosophy-of-language discipline. It contents also knowledge from linguistic disciplines and methods, knowledge of language structure, its function in a process of communication , principal characteristics of Indo-European languages (with attention to Slavic-languages).
Student is oriented in linguistic terminology, he is able to explain basic terms and theories from the field of general linguistics and he can use linguistic terminology when describing language.
Prerequisites
knowledge of the field on the level of GCSE exam knowledge of disciplines connected to the central domain of study knowledge of appropriate terminology
