1. Standard language and pre-written cultural language - its present manifestations; 2. First "home" language - Czechoslovak language as an archetype of ethno-identity preservation 3. Models of Standard language: purism and historical attitude, functional structuralism - synchronic attitude, "post-structural" attitude (pragmatic), open attitude; Model: theory of orthoepy development; 4. Place of standard Czech language in a nationwide context, its principal position as an only nationwide language system 5. Standard language and basic problems of common Czech; 6. Horizontal and vertical stratification of national language; Structural and non-structural parts; 7. Stratification of a Standard language: hypo-standard - standard - hyper-standard, their properties and role in national language, their application in concrete phases of a school system. 8. Priority of system of writing in standard language - morphologic and textologic role of graphics (including punctuation); European context of graphics and literacy; 9. Problems of usage, norm and codification, their theory and their relation to standard language; Codification handbooks 10. Czech as a Euro-language - its position in European language area: Western or Slavic language (?); Role of Czech in development of other European languages 11. Tradition of Prague linguistic school; Questions of language culture; Theory of sociolinguistics (influence of society over languages) and linguosociologic (influence of language over society); Role of language in forming, existence and preservation of ethno-identity; 12. Development of Prague attitude to language (difference between language system and language); Language as an environment; Forming of individual standard language as one of the basic factors of cultural and intellectual education of a person; Its impact on his emotional and spiritual growth; Role of school (empathy of language, empathy od a teacher) 13. Learning outcomes
|
Conclusion of Master´s study is connected with study of standard language theory as a principal system of Czech language and its relation to society, with which it is not just related, but entwined. Subject studies specifics of standard language, its social function, determination and extent of its functional stratification. We shall pay special attention to dynamism of present and future perspective in Europe-wide context. There is a final written test at the end of the subject.
Student is able to understand the theoretical issues of standard language and its conception, monitor development trends in contemporary literary language, take an attitude to questions of language development at present, care for the culture of language and speech.
