Czech enclaves abroad (Czech corner, Ratibořské, Hlučínsko, Gmünd, Hohenau) 4. Language Islands (Vienna, Berlin). 5. Language Islands (Daruvarsko, Banat, Bulgaria). 6. Language Islands (former Galicia, Volhynia, Russia, Kazakhstan). 7. Language Islands (USA, Canada). 8. Language Islands (South America, Australia). 9. Teaching Czech on European and world universities. 10. Program of the Government of the Czech Republic in support of Czech cultural heritage abroad. 11. Czech Teaching Abroad: Czech school without borders, teaching Czech for expatriates, lectures on Czech universities. 12. Czech legal status in the European Union; "euroczech"? 13. Learning outcomes
|
This seminar will be focused on four main areas: 1) Czech linguistic enclaves and islands, 2) teaching Czech language abroad, 3) Czech position in the European Union and in the world, and 4) the Government of the Czech Republic in support of Czech cultural heritage abroad. Knowledge will be proved in writting.
Students will acknowledge an overview of where in the world they speak in Czech, what is the situation in teaching Czech abroad and how does czech republic support this situation. They obtain a broader view of the Czech language as a first - second or foreign language.
