Course content
1. Stylistics - Style. Basic terminology of subject field. 2. Style - Language style: language manifestation. Stylistic process in the relation to the communicative process. 3. Classification of language styles. Term functional style. 4. Construction of language manifestations and style: style features of theme construction and text segmentation (stylistic procedure - horizontal and vertical text segmentation). 5. Stylistic differentiation - basic features connected to it. 6. Stylistic differentiation of phonic means. 7. Stylistic differentiation of morphological means. 8. Stylistic differentiation of lexical and word formation means. 9. Stylistic differentiation of syntactical means. 10.-13. Description and characteristics of scientific, administrative, publicistic, rhetorical, colloquial and artistic style. 14. Current issues of contemporary Czech stylistics.

Learning outcomes
The aim of education is to deepen, extend and systematize findings about features of language style, develop abilities, apply them consciously in the process of construction analysis and style of particular language manifestation. Lecture is aimed at basic range of issues of contemporary Czech stylistics with the regard to their position and application in school practice.
Student masters terminology of field of stylistics, manages to classify language manifestations from the viewpoint of their functional-stylistic aim, can identify stylistic attribute of selected language mean, manages stylistic analysis of selected text, manages to apply theoretical findings of stylistics while creating own texts, manages to apply theoretical knowledge of stylistics while correcting school essays.
Prerequisites
knowledge of the field on the level of GCSE exam knowledge of disciplines connected to the central domain of study knowledge of appropriate terminology
