Course content |
1. Fighting for Romanticism in the thirties in Czech literature. 2. Signs of realistic tendencies in the fourties in Czech literature. 3. Czech literature in the forties. J.K.Tyl and K. Havlíček. 4. Czech literature as an active factor of democratization movement of Czech society in the second half of the forties. B. Němcová. 5. Czech literature in the revolutionary year 1848. 6. Literary development in the fifties in the 19th century. 7. Programme of the Májovci generation. 8. Output of Májovci in the sixties, their benefits for literary criticism. 9. Entrance of the young literary generation at the turn of the sixties and the seventies, changes of literary development in this period. 10. Programme of Lumírovci, poetry in the seventies and the eighties. 11. Poetry and prose in the seventies and the eighties. 12. Prose and drama in the seventies and the eighties. 13. Literary criticism in the seventies and the eighties. 14. Final lesson, student assessment (pursuant the control of their readiness within previous lessons).

Learning outcomes |
The interpretation is focused on watching developmental changes in Czech letters as a part of process of formation modern Czech culture within multiethnic culture type from the forties to the eighties in the 19th century. In this context are monitored relations between Czech and Czech-German literature and its changes and also relations between Czech literature and the world literary context. The seminar continues on the topics of lectures and analyses problems of development of the literature of this period and specific literary texts will be interpreted as well.
Students of the course gain the ability of deeper orientation in bearing developmental changes of the second half of the 19th century and in its place in the living cultural inheritance and have the ability of interpretation of appropriate literary texts. |
