Course content
1. Linguistic terminology (dictionaries). 2. Linguistics and its disciplines. The general characteristics of Czech language. 3. The general characteristics of Czech language. Its specific features. 4. Language and speech. Language unit, linguistic system and its structure. Language subsystems (planes) and their relationships. Diachrony and synchrony. 5. The written form of the language and spelling spoken form of the language and pronunciation. 6. Czech national language and its regional and social stratification. Literary language and its stratification. 7. Ungrammatical national language and its relationship to the literary language. 8. Linguistic usage. Regulation and codification of literary language. Codification manual with its regard to lexicology, grammar and orthography. 9. Language culture. 10. Trends in contemporary Czech language. 11. The periodization of the development of Czech language. 12. Development of linguistic bohemistics. 13. Linguistic studies in the 20th century. 14. The relation of sound and graphical aspect of language. 15.Czech vowels and czech consonants. 16. Sound forms of coherent speech. Analysis of speech, Conditions of speech understanding. 17. Orthoepy. 18. Pronunciation styles.

Collective exam is divided into 2 parts. With this exam students will demonstrate heoretical knowledge and skill and their application in the linguistic analysis of the text.
Knowledge of the base of Czech linguistic system and its functioning in communication, terminologic requirements to the study of the linguistics discipline.Recognize of phonetic and phonologic phenomenons. Orientation in terminology.
