Course content
1. Phonetics and Phonology and its ties to other social and natural sciences. 2. Terminology. 3. Relations between sound and graphic level of the language. 4. Principles of the Czech phonetics transcription. 5. Production and perception of the language. 6. Acoustic features of the language. 7. Conditions of language understanding. 8. Orthophony of Czech vocals and consonants. 9. Czech vocalic and consonant system. 10. Phonic changes in the flow of speech - orthoepic, non-orthoepic. 11. Sound structure of the speech. Analysis of the flow of speech, classification. 12. Orthoepy of native and borrowed words. 13. Pronunciation styles with examples. Requirements for public speaking pronunciation. 14. Text analysis from the sound point of view.

Learning outcomes
This discipline gives collated complex knowledge about the sound level of Czech language from the usage practice point of view. Within lectures and seminars students are apprised of orthoepic rules, student are learning to classify their own speeches and also speeches of others and judge their suitability - unsuitability of used sound instruments in concrete sound material. The subject reflects needs of professional focus of graduates who will affect broad masses of Czech language users by the culture of their speech.
Students know the subject terminology and are able to describe the phonetic side of utterances, terminologically correct phonetic phenomena, can analyze coherent speech to lower phonetic units on the basis of hearing, can objectively judge the quality of the phonetic side of the utterance from the orthoepy point of view, orientate in the dynamics of the phonological system of the Czech language.

knowledge of the field on the level of GCSE exam knowledge of disciplines connected to the central domain of study knowledge of appropriate terminology
