1. Resonances of symbolism in Czech poetry of anarchism (Březina, Gellner). 2. Prose Poem as a statement about the existential experience of poetic images (Deml, Halas). 3. Creativity unwittingly breaking the bonds of ideology (early Seifert, Early Listopad). 4. The calendar cycle as an image variable context (Toman, Seifert). 5. playfulness and sadness poetism (Nezval: Abeceda, Seifert: Na vlnách TSF). 6. Czech and Slovak Surrealism superrealism - communicating vessels? (Nezval, Dilong). 7. Poetry of deep questioning and existential anxiety (Halas, Holan). 8. Closing seminar, exam test, assessment of students.

Learning outcomes
|
This seminar is focused on understanding and interpreting the most important personalities of Czech poetry of the first half of the twentieth century. Students read, analyze, interpret, compare to each other and to the broader context the put collections of poems and texts generated by us, during the a certain periodof time. Students learn the basic techniques and methods of interpretation of a literary text and necessary erminology(seminar is not limited by the analysis of a the foot).
Students will learn to perceive and interpret poetic text. The will gain theoretical background for analytical and synthetic phase of the interpretive process, acquire skills for interpretation of a literary text, learn the use of secondary literature and literary criticism (in the examination of reader periodical reception of the text) and literary history (with adequate placement of art literary work into a broader historical context).
