Course content
1. Basic methodological starting-points of compataristic thinking-nowadays (synoptic pulsating model, non-linearity, limits of the concept of "national literature" ad.) 2. Utopian thinking in philosophy and literature. Dystopia in Czech literature, world literature and film. 3. Romanticism or romance? 4. Modernist representation of consciousness in Czech and world literature. 5. Representation of consciousness in Czech and world literature of the 20th century. 6. Holocaust in Czech and world literature. 7. Reflection and self-reflection in the novel. Postmodernism in Czech and world literature 8. Closingseminar, exam test

Learning outcomes
Subject freely follows the course "Comparative Literature I" and extends it on other topics. It provides the basic procedures and methods of comparatistic thinking and encourages students to think about Czech literature in transnational and also in intermediate contexts; objective will be to overcome the insulating especially the concept of "national literature" and offering concepts that emphasize the non-linear and pulsatile nature of literary events. Emphasis is placed on working with a particular material, particularly with regard to the history of Czech literature of the 20th century.; reflected the relations Czech literature to other national literatures, as well as the visual arts, film, music and others.
After completing the course the student will be able to: understand the basic methods of comparative thinking; understand the current state of comparatistics as a literary discipline as well as its development. He will be able to apply methodological basis of comparative thinking when explicating literary phenomena and also on the interpretation of particular literary works (focusing on czech literature). Student understands czech literature in a multinational context and in the broader context of art history.
