1. What is the verse, its definition, its place in poetic discourse. Rhythm and communication value of the verse. 2. The interrelationship and differences between poetry and prose. Rhymed and rhythmic prose; prose poem. Types of free verses. 3. Czech verses such material; meter and rhythm; meter and language material; consonant rhythmic instrumentation as a factor; metric constants and trends. Caesura, diereze?, interval; incomplete interval, overlap etc. 4. Rhythm and meter, definition and practical application in poetic texts. Creating poetry as a way of semantic grammar. Grammatical and metric standard in the poetic text (a literary text as a secondary system modeled - for the aesthetic appeal of the recipient - the primary model of natural language). 5. Prosodic system; metric system. Their definitions, specifications, characteristics, resolution. 6. Development of Czech prosody and metrics (in the broader European context) from the earliest times to the present. Theoretical instruction on prosody and metric called prosodic fight. 7. Prosodic system časoměrný?, syllabic and tonic (and their realization in particular periods of literary development in a specific literary texts). 8. Prosodic system sylabotonic; trochee. Problems and possibilities of iambus in Czech literature. Dactyl and verse logaedický. The implementation of the metric system in specific texts from the history of Czech literature. Free verse 9. Dimensionless verse and its place in the development of Czech literature. 10. Verses in terms of sound and semantic; rhyme and meter, distribution rhymes. 11. Couplets stave paragraph; some traditional verses, stanzas of poetry formations in art. 12. Interpretation of poetry (interpretation of complete, partial, with didactic functions); fictional worlds lyrics. 13. Application of knowledge of versology in theoretical and critical reception of poetic text. 14. Closing seminar, test, assessment of students.

Learning outcomes
|
This course should further develop the student's lesson on versology. The aim of the seminar is to deepen existing knowledge, abilities and skills in oral and written expert expression, access to the poet's work (reading, interpretation), to prepare students for independent study versology and professional literature, to teach them a creative way to work with literary texts. Seminars are based on the traditional concept of literary criticism from the latest findings. Versology covers the basics, learning about the style and construction of poetic texts, their genres; but also the literary tendencies, directions in their development - and their application to professional and scientific study of literature.
Student gets: a deepened knowledge of literary theory (especially versology), history (history of older and contemporary czech poetry), historical poets (development of czech prosody and metric systems); knowledge of basic literary terminology, theory of verse and he will get an ability to use this knowledge appropriately in the analysis and interpretation of the poetic text. Student will be aware of the wider context of czech prosodic systems and czech poetry (written in czech language). Student is able to: analyze and interpret poetic text (using the given terminology and recommended methods of research), properly verbalize learned findings, place the text in the context of developmental changes in czech written poetry. Student will explain those information to his colleagues and potencional future students of his.
