Course content
1. Specific features of Slavonic literature in Great Moravian period. 2. Slavonic literature on Czech territory. 3. Genre structure of Latin literature on Czech territory in 10th - 12th century. 4. Lyrical and epical genres of Czech literature in 13th and 1st half of 14th century. 5. Genre diversification of Czech literature in the peak of gothic period. 6. Deepening process of laicization of Czech literature in the 2nd half of 14th century, first signs of reformation movement in literature. 7. Literature of Hussite period, genre structure changes of literature of this period, discussions, disputations, agitational writings. 8. Significant literary persons of literature of Hussite period till 1500. 9. Rise of renaissance and humanism in Czech literature in 15th and 16th century. 10. Period peak of Czech humanistic literature in 16th and 17th century. 11. Rise of counter-reformation after year 1620. Exile production. 12. Significant persons of local baroque production. Relation of this production to European literary context. 13. Baroque production as basis for further literary development. 14. Final lesson with evaluation of students' work.

Learning outcomes
Explanation is focused on observation of basic developing changes of Czech literature from the oldest age to the end of 18th century on the background of European literary context. While special attention is devoted to the changes of supporting period genres decisively determining the direction of further literary development and meanwhile forming part of the living cultural heritage. In the seminar, which corresponds to the thematic focus of the lectures, will be more deeply analysed the problems of literature development of this period and at the same time there will be held interpretation of selected literary texts.
By absolving this course student acquires ability of deeper orientation in supporting developmental metamorphoses of old Czech literature. Simultaneously student makes himself clear about the position of old Czech literature in vital cultural heritage of the past.
