Learning outcomes
Lectures and seminars are aimed at deep understanding of selected syntactical features (including corresponding terminology and valence description) and their function in various communication situations as fundamental theoretical base to further understanding of Czech syntactical subsystem and enriching one's own repertoire of syntactical means and their appropriate use in communication. Part of seminars is presentation of current specialized literature, work with texts aimed at communicative pragmatic elements of statement, basic clause structures and dealing with particular syntactical tasks. Explanations are supported by syntactical findings from current speech practice and refer even to syntax education at elementary and secondary schools.
Student can differentiate various communication objectives in concrete communication situation and their possible statement realizations (forms); differentiate gradations of certainty modality, unguaranteed and speculative statements; express assessing and preferential attitudes to content of statements; describe contentual, graphical, grammatical, semantic and illocutionary aspect of statements; hierarchize propositional contents and express them in language adequately; express identical propositional content by different grammatical structures and be aware of grammatical concordances and differences; speak about syntactical features in correct terminology.
