Course content
1. Russian alphabet (azbuka). Pronunciation of the sound, reading, rehearsal of writing. Lexical theme: Russian names, greeting, salutation, introduction. 2. Declination of feminine nouns, noun kniga. Personal pronouns. Lexical theme: My family, family relations. 3. Productive verb classes. Conjugation of verbs. Lexical theme: Living, furnishing. 4. Unproductive verb classes. Conjugation of verbs. Lexical theme: Food, eating, Russian cuisine. 5. Declination of masculine nouns. Lexical theme: Shops, shopping. 6. Verb tense. Creating forms of the future tense of verbs. Lexical theme: Town, transport. 7. Declination of neuter nouns. Lexical theme: Profession, career, employment. 8. Declination of feminine nouns, noun noč Lexical theme: School, education, sciences. 9. Verb tense. Creating past tense verb forms. Lexical theme: Free time, hobbies. 10. Declination of adjectives. Lexical theme: Sport, Olympic games. 11. Pronouns. Declination of pronouns. Lexical theme: Culture, art, theatre, film. 12. Verbs in imperative. Lexical theme: Geography, names of states, nations. 13.-14. Numbers. Declinations of numbers. Lexical theme: Tense, expression of tense. Date, era.

Learning outcomes
This subject deals with basic language instruments of Russian language: phonetic, graphic, lexical and grammatical. Practically focused lessons will teach students to orientate and react in basic communication situations and get an appropriate vocabulary. After finishing the subject students will gain an ability of orientation in basic situations of communication and they will manage an elementary language level. Students will use knowledge from this course in the following Slavic disciplines within the curriculum of the Czech language and literature solo study (bachelor's curriculum).
Students are able to read Russian texts, understand shorter written utterances, handle Russian alphabet and basic phenomena of the Russian grammar, can react to questions of the well-known themes, produce simple dialogs and monologs.
