Course content
1. Overview of research, recent literature, Bohemia in the 14th century (introduction to the issue) 2. Editions, overview of sources 3. Court (including residences), royal council 4. Itinerary of the rulers 5. Chancery, charters (internal, external features, including language), testimonial value, working with them 6. Prague in the Luxembourg era 7. The royal domain, its administration, the royal chamber 8. Administration of royal towns and monasteries, collection of royal taxes, royal interest 9. Regional establishment 10. The court, the manorial system 11. Coinage and the upper regalia 12. Specific regions (Kladsko, Chebsko) 13. Luxembourg rulers 14. Luxembourg era today (Luxembourgers in today?s society)

Learning outcomes
The lecture will focus on the royal administrative structures during the reign of the Luxembourg dynasty in Bohemia.Emphasis will be placed on the period up to 1420, after which the monarchical administration uderwent significant changes as well as the pillars of monarchical power. These structures of monarchical power will be followed with an emphais on Bohemia - the other crown lands will be considered only marginally. Attention will be paid to all levels of the monarchical administration from the court to the reginal exponents and selectively to the administration fo some regions of the Bohemian Kingdo.
Students should first and foremost orient themselves in the literature available on the Lucembourgers and become aware of the imprtance of anniversaries for scholarly and popular science production on the topic. They should also understand the explanatory value of sources related to the topic both in terms of their typology and in terms of the questions answered in the course. They will gain an inisght into selected aspects of the rule of the Luxembourg kings in the Kingdom of Bohemia, the instruments and supports of monarchical power during this period, or the problems that the Luxembourg kings had to deal with in the administration of the country.

Students are expected to attend class regularly. Successful completion of the course will be based on a short interview over one or two items of literature studied and presented in class.
