Course content
1. The script of early printed books. 2. Humanistic script. 3. Neo-Gothic script - origin, prerequisites for further development, territorial spread. 4. Neo-Gothic script - types and terminology. 5. Overview of the development of the study of the modern Latin script. 6. Neo-Gothic script in Bohemia. 7. Morphology of Neo-Gothic cursive. 8. Neo-Gothic script of the 16th - 17th centuries in German texts. 9. Neo-Gothic script of the 16th - 17th centuries in Czech texts. 10. Neo-Gothic script of the 17th - 18th centuries in German texts. 11. Neo-Gothic script of the 17th - 18th centuries in Czech texts. 12. Neo-Gothic script of the 19th century in German texts. 13. Printed Neo-Gothic script in German texts. 14. Special modern scripts and the basics of cryptography.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to familiarize the student with the development of Latin paleography from the beginning of the modern age to the second half of the 20th century and to provide him with theoretical and practical knowledge for reading and interpreting texts written in Neo-Gothic German cursive.
The student will gain an overview of the development of the Latin script in the modern age (humanistic and neo-Gothic); will be able to read texts written in German neo-Gothic cursive at a basic level; and will acquire knowledge of methods by which this level can be further deepened and improved.
Prerequisites
Paleography I. Knowledge of the basics of the Latin language, solid knowledge of the German language.
