Learning outcomes
|
In the second part of the course focused on the auxiliary sciences of history, the teaching will focus on the practical side of these disciplines. This will cover the practical component of selected auxiliary historical sciences. In these areas, the work in the seminar will develop the theoretically acquired knowledge from the first part of the course and apply it to the practical level of auxiliary science and historiographical research. This will include the acquisition of the ability to convert dates from the Christian and Roman calendar to the calendar in use today (so-called continuous dating), practical work with editions of diplomatic sources as well as the ability to make content summaries (regests) of these documents. Furthermore, the teaching will be directed towards working with catalogues of manuscript books, the use of which presupposes certain skills an theoretical equipment. Students will also be practically instructed in the processing of epigraphic monuments (historical inscriptions) and in working with sources useful fo genealogical research.
The student is able to convert dates from historical calendars (Roman, Christioan) to continuous dating. The student can use editions of diplomatic material effectively. The student is also able to give a relevant content extract (regest) from a given official document. The student is proficient in working with manuscript catalogues and can make use of all their data. The student can describe historical inscriptions and is able to work with relevant sources related to genealogy.
