Learning outcomes
The aim of the course Introduction to Archival Science II is to focus attention on the problem of receiving documents into archives and their subsequent handling (recording, organizing). Space is also given to introducing the methods of processing archival materials, which have recently been determined primarily by several international standards for the processing of this material in memory institutions. Students are also introduced to the current state of archival work in Europe and the world, where similar problems and challenges are often solved as in the Czech Republic. The next stage of working with archival materials is their use and presentation. Attention is also paid to basic issues related to the technical side of caring for archival materials and their appropriate storage in archival depositories. Students also receive information about the development of archival education in the world and in the Czech Republic.
The student is able to define the criteria for accepting documents into archives, as well as to state the basic organizational principles. He is able to describe the form of archival records and the creation of accessibility aids. He is able to report on the current state of archival work abroad. He is also able to define the issue of using archival records, archival technology and is able to provide information on the past and present of archival education.
