The development of IT technologies, the digization of state administration, electronic shredding, the publication of new Basic Rules for the Processing of Archival Materials and their implementation, including the development of archival software, the presentation of the results of work to the public through e-libraries - all this and much more has posed new challenges to archives staff in the last twenty years, for which their studies at university had no chance to prepare them. The aim of the course is to introduce students to the changes that archival practice has undergone in the last twenty years and to ensure that they get a better idea of what the archival profession currently entails.
Students will gain on overview of the development of archival practice over the last twenty years and its current form with regard to IT technology. They will be able to visualize the process of shredding, processing and presentation of archival materials in the context of modern archival tools, including archival software. They will gain a better understanding of the nature of a profession that is still largely misunderstood by the general public.
