Learning outcomes
The comprehensive history of our city archives has not yet been processed in our historiography, although this type of archives, focusing primarily on the care of municipal documents, is extremely important. According to the current legislative regulations, there are a total of 5 such archives in the Czech Republic - the Archives of the Capital City of Prague, the Archives of the City of Brno, the Archives of the City of Ostrava, the Archives of the City of Pilsen and the Archives of the Cities of Ústí nad Labem. The lecture will explain their gradual formation and, above all, their institutional anchoring since the 19th century - many of the significant city funds are currently part of the State District Archives, or more precisely, the State Regional Archives, which, according to the new legislation, integrated the former independent district archives. In addition to emphasizing their current tasks, it will also be outlined what significant archival materials these archives manage (many of which date back to the 13th century), provide with the necessary accessibility tools and thus make available to the interested research public.
The output professional knowledge of the participants of the course, whose focus is aimed at deepening specific skills, including the processing of archival collections of cities, will be in line with the objectives of the entire study program.
Prerequisites
The prerequisite for successful completion of the course is general knowledge of the development of archival science as a practical and scientific field within the scope of the subject chapters of specialized textbooks (L. Sulitková - R. Pokorný, Archivnictví a spisová služba, Ústí nad Labem 2017)

Assessment methods and criteria
unspecified
To successfully complete the course, it will be necessary to prepare an independent seminar paper and present it, or, in the case of a large number of participants, at least to properly answer the questions of the scored written test.
