The history of administration covered in the course familiarizes students with the organization of public administration in the Bohemian state from the Middle Ages to the present day, discussing not only political administration, but also municipal, ecclesiastical, and feudal administration. The lecture on public administration institutions is linked to information on the preservation and storage of their written records as an important factor not only for understanding their organization and actual functioning, but also for the methodical conduct of historical studies in general. The first part of the course focuses on the earliest period (up to 1740), which was marked by the introduction of extensive reforms during the reign of Maria Theresa. The course does not focus solely on state political administration, although this is given the most space and was of the utmost importance in terms of national development, but also on other specific legal areas that had their own administration, whether municipal, regional, or ecclesiastical. Emphasis is placed not only on acquiring basic facts, but also on trends, tendencies, and the historical, economic, and social background of the developments outlined.
