Course content
The teaching of the course in combined form summarizes the following topics in individual teaching blocks: 1. Palaeography 2. Diplomacy 3. Epigraphy 4. Codicology Within the framework of self-study, students deal with the topics included in the compulsory literature and especially in the course outline, tasks assigned in the attendance part of the course or in the Moodle learning system, as well as on the basis of individual consultations with the teacher realized also through the communication forum in Moodle or other electronic form.

Learning outcomes
In this course, students will be introduced to a basic overview of the historical auxiliary sciences, including basic methodological background, recommended readings, and the history of each discipline. The aim is to introduce them to this corpus as a whole and to explain their close interdependence and applicability to historiographical work. Nine disciplines that are traditionally perceived in Czech historiography as part of this corpus (palaeography, diplomacy, sphragistics, heraldry, codicology, epigraphy, genealogy, historical chronology and metrology) will be presented in turn.
The student knows the basic overview of the auxiliary historical sciences, including the basic methodological background, recommended literature and history of individual disciplines. The student understands the corpus as a whole and can explain the close interrelationship of the disciplines and their applicability to historiographical work.
