Teaching practicum is an important integral part of initial teacher training. Student teachers work in close collaboration with host teachers. First student teachers observe classes and then start teaching themselves. They may be also visited by a University supervisor. During practicum student teachers are required to use the European Portfolio for Student Teachers of Languages (EPOSTL) as a tool for self-reflection.
