Learning outcomes
|
The course is aimed at preparing students to write their master thesis in the field of EFL teaching. The students will learn the logistics of thesis writing that will include such basic issues as selecting the topic, formulating the hypothesis (or research questions) , reviewing the literature, describing the method, etc. The course is held in the form of a workshop.
* to be able to select literature relevant for the topic * to perform a literature review on a given topic of their choice according to APA or Chicago manual formatting and style guides; * to learn about the thesis structure and its macro components; * to be aware of different methods that can be employed while doing their research in TEFL; * to be able to design the study according to the Method components.

Prerequisites
|
The topic of the potential thesis has to be discussed with and approved by the supervisor, and it has to be registered in STAG. It is strongly recommended to select the topic and enter it into the systém at the end of the first semester of Master studies.
