Basic theories of the first language acquisition. Age and acquisition. Second language learning. Individual differences in second language learning. Human learning. Affective domain and its contribution to language teaching. Sociocultural factors. Learner language and error analysis. Second language learning in the classroom.

Learning outcomes |
The course in question will help students to have a better understanding of the language learning process. It will deal with core concepts in language acquisitions as well as with some basic underlying concepts of EFL didactics. It will also outline the historical development of foreign language teaching. The course will include interactive lectures and seminars.
Course objectives. By the end of the course, students in this class are expected to: 1. Understand and make practical use of the basic terminology used in EFL teaching. 2. Understand the difference between EFL and ESL contexts and its impact on the teacher's behavior in an interactive language classroom. 3. Understand the principles leading to successful classroom management. 4. Understand and be able to use different procedures for classroom interaction. |
