Learning outcomes
This course focuses on extending the language competence of students. Another aim of this program is to strengthen the knowledge and usage of grammatical structures together with good acquisition of linguistic terminology using selective work and supplementing the textbook with additional material that meets student's level including newspaper texts and film and other recordings. The students will also be directed towards the development of their writing skills by training of the simpler forms such as description, story, summary, etc. in order to reach a common and correct use of these forms within their future teaching practice.
At the end of the semester, the students will prove that they are able to: - Express themselves on a given topic confidently and intelligibly; - Recognize a wide range of idiomatic and colloquial expressions and apply them in practical conversation; - Use the differences between functional styles (they will approach level C1 of the European Framework of Reference for Languages of the adequacy of language skills in terms of sociolinguistics); - Handle a wide repertoire of vocabulary which allows them to replace missing lexical units by a descriptive means; - Practically use a range of general knowledge of the language (also on the level approaching C1).
