Learning outcomes
In this course, students will learn the basics about the subject of study and about the current research on foreign language didactics, further about the theoretical basis of foreign language didactics and its interconnectedness with disciplines such as linguistics (and also with applied linguistics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics), pedagogy, psychology, psychology of learning, etc. In the course, historical development of foreign language teaching methods, forms of teaching, learning strategies are discussed. Finally, students get acquainted with documents related to foreign language teaching.
At the end of the course each participant -is well informed about and knows basic didactic categories, - knows basic linguistic and didactic terminology, - is able to see language as a system and to understand its role in the process of foreign language teaching / learning, - has an idea of the organization of teaching in an institutional context, - becomes familiar with the methodological concepts of teaching foreign languages, the aims of teaching and its forms, - gains an overview of basic documents related to foreign language teaching.
