Learning outcomes
|
The course is focused on the acquisition of language skills for specific academic / professional purposes at intermediate level, B1 - B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The aim of the course is mainly to develop the skills needed to read professional texts, the ability to understand professional topics and the acquisition of adequate professional vocabulary. Communication competences (theoretical considerations, ability to define, ability to abstract and formulate ideas as well as to understand the questions, to understand the text) are supported by targeted grammatical support, adequate use of syntax and stylistics. The student is guided to distinguish between different stylistic levels of written and spoken expressions and to deepen the ability to communicate in different study or professional situations and about different social problems.
Students are able to use the language to express themselves and to discuss topics concerning their field of study as well as professional focus on language level B1 CERF.

Assessment methods and criteria

A part of the exam is to demonstrate the ability to analyze and interpret a professional text and the ability to translate it. The student demonstrates the ability to communicate in various situations, including study and professional situations and the ability to respond to common topics that are part of the course.
