Course content
1. Presentation of the field of study, faculty and university, professional career 2. University and faculty structure, academic year and its parts, tuition system (courses - names, content, credit system, final-year dissertation, final year state exam) 3. Profile of the field of study in terms of studies and practical use 4. Social issues - employment, social and welfare systems, health care 5. Fundamentals of using formal language in writing (structured CV, letter of application), academic short form texts (annotation / abstract / resume / summary) 6. Social issues - addictions (drugs, , alcohol, gambling, etc.) (Test 2) 7. Social issues - discrimination (xenophobia, racism, ageism, sexism, bullying/mobbing) 8. Social issues: crime (breaking the law, types of crime, offences, punishment, crime prevention) 10. Social issues: environment (problems/solutions, environmental protection) 11. Technical texts - selected issues

Learning outcomes
This subject deals with professional issues in the student´s field. The student is motivated to self-study the currend trends in their branch. They are capable of communicating current social issues.

Before the student approaches the exam: pass MOODLE COURSE CJP/4086 Comprehensive English (see link: https://moodle.pf.ujep.cz/course/view.php?id=1127. In addition the student must demonstrate: Ability to ORAL PRESENTATION OF THE FIELD, faculty and university of the field in terms of study and profession. Ability to discuss major SOCIAL PROBLEMS (see Moodle course content). The ability to navigate relevant foreign-language PROFESSIONAL TEXT in the given language with an extent corresponding to twenty pages of A4 format (one page has 30 lines, one line has 60 keystrokes including spaces, corresponds to the font type Times New Roman, size 12, line spacing 1.5 = approx. 1 norm -page). The student chooses the professional text independently (from professional publications or from internet sources), it also contains exact bibliographic information or a full internet address/link. The student will bring a printed text to the exam - they can read it, translate it, find their way around it and talk about it in the given language. Submit a brief written ANNOTATION to the required professional text in English. Submit a list of 100 KEY TERMS (including phrases) from the field with translations into Czech and prove your knowledge of them. Submit a FORMAL letter - a request for a relevant job (or internship, stay abroad, etc.) and a personal Europass CV in the given foreign language. Submit a written STRUCTURED RESUME (CV) in the given language - student will use tools on the Europas EU website in all languages ??to create it EU (in the search engine: Europass CV).
