The course aims to introduce basic concepts and theories of rural geography. In the initial lectures development of rural geography and rural sociology is outlined, also various approaches to defining the rural are discussed. The course focuses significantly on theories and concepts which try to explain present restructuring of rural areas in the developed world including the Czech Republic.
