Learning outcomes
The course is intended particularly for students whose thesis will deal with thermodynamic behavior of fluids. It extends student?s knowledge of statistical physics to classical systems of interacting particles: - Intermolecular interactions; Models of simple and molecular fluids. - Real gas: Virial expansion and virial coefficients. - Theory of liquids: Basic concepts, distribution functions, BBGY hierarchy, integral equations, perturbation theories. Molecular-based equations of state. - Mixtures of non-electrolytes. - Electrolyte solutions: Primitive models, Debye-Hueckel theory. - Liquids at interface.
