Course content
The course provides students with basic knowledge of chemistry and physics of biological systems needed for other special courses (molecular biology, physiology, genetics, etc.). The aim of the course isto bring together students' knowledge of chemistry and physics gained in the secondary school. Very little knowledge of physics and chemistry is assumed. A part of the course will cover physical and chemical fundamentals of modern methods of investigations of structure and functions of macromolecules and cells. The lectures will be delivered in Czech. Prerequisites by Topic: Matematics at secondary school level Physics at secondary school level Chemistry at secondary school Course Topics: Attributes of Living Systems Basics of Chemistry and Physics Biological macromolecules Lipids Sacharides Proteins Nucleic Acids Enzymes Bioenergetics
