Course content
1. The roots of sociobiology and the critique, evolution of social behavior 2. Mechanisms of social behavior: genetics of behavior, eusociality, altruism, cognition of relatives, the size of the society, tradition, social learning and modification of social behavior 3. Mechanisms of social behavior: signals and communication, aggressiveness, home range and territory, social hierarchy, dominance, role and caste, sexual behavior, mating systems, parental care, social symbiosis 4. Social behavior of invertebrates I 5. Social behavior of invertebrates II 6. Social behavior of fish and amphibians 7. Social behavior of reptiles 8. Social behavior of birds 9. Social behavior of mammals (hoofed animals, rodents) 10. Social behavior of mammals (primates, carnivora, proboscidea) 11. Social behavior of man 12. Presentation of the articles
