Course content
1. Art education and visual culture. 2. Visual literacy as a current educational goal. 3. Perception, issues of synesthesia. 4. Framework Educational Program and visual literacy. 5. Visual - figurative elements of communication. 6. Competence about the use of images. 7. Term of fine art, art and visual art. 8. Art comparison. 9. Models of visual perception and the changes. 10. Contemporary visual theories. 11. Theory of communication, the study of signs. 12. Language of new media. 13. Analysis of visual experience. 14. Interpretation of contemporary visual culture.

Learning outcomes
The content of this subject is issue of visual literacy as a main current subject goal of Art in Education. It familiarize students with model of visual perception, contemporary visual theories as well as semiotic knowledge. They acquire the competence of understanding and analysis of visual experience. They compare the basic elements of visual communication to verbal communication. They also compare the terms of fine art to art and visual art. Students interpret the contemporary visual culture and they are informed about visual communication. They are able to work with the elements of visual-figurative communication in diction with Framework Educational Program.
Student is able to name and interpret changes of main concepts and intellectual solutions of Art Education during the development.
Prerequisites
Basic orientation in The Theory of Art Education and active involvement in the subject theoretical matter.
