The course focuses on selected contemporary issues in special pedagogy in a European context, with particular emphasis on their forms, solutions, and specific features in the Czech Republic. Attention is given to the issue of comprehensive support for persons with disabilities, disadvantages, or other barriers to participation in education, learning, social life, and employment. The course addresses current challenges in special pedagogy within an inclusive context. The topics reflect not only educational perspectives but also social, health-related, and vocational rehabilitation dimensions. A significant part of the course is the integration of theoretical foundations, current research findings, and practice through excursions, meetings with professionals, and discussions of specific examples of interventions and support measures. The course emphasizes interdisciplinary cooperation and the search for effective solutions that promote inclusion, equal opportunities, and the full participation of persons with disabilities or disadvantages in society.
Learning Outcomes After successful completion of the course, students will be able to: - explain key contemporary issues and trends in special pedagogy within a European context; - analyse barriers to participation in education, social life, and employment for persons with disabilities or disadvantages; - evaluate different forms of support and intervention in inclusive and special education settings; - compare approaches to support in the Czech Republic and other European countries; - apply basic principles of interdisciplinary cooperation in supporting individuals with diverse needs; - reflect on field-based experiences (excursions, meetings with practitioners) and connect them with theoretical knowledge; - identify examples of good practice and propose appropriate solutions to selected situations; - assess the role of professionals and support systems in promoting inclusion and equal opportunities.
