1. Definition, scope, and legal framework of child protection services 2. Key concepts, objectives, and principles of child protection and children?s rights 3. The role of international human rights instruments and professional standards in child protection 4. The child protection system and its functioning: roles of the state, public authorities, and other stakeholders 5. The Czech child protection system in the context of international children?s rights frameworks 6. Working with families within child protection; case management in child protection practice 7. Interdisciplinary and interagency cooperation; professional roles and competences in child protection 8. Good practice in child protection: effective approaches, innovative methods, and knowledge sharing 9. Ethical issues in child protection: conflict situations and professional responsibility 10. Child protection concerns and risk factors: neglect, domestic violence, abuse, and other forms of harm, including their causes and consequences 11. Current challenges in child protection: emerging issues, trends, and ethical considerations in an international context

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the issue of the social and legal protection of children and youth within broader social and international contexts. Attention is paid to the fundamental principles of the protection of children?s rights, which are based on internationally recognised human rights documents. Emphasis is placed on cooperation among institutions and professions operating in the fields of social work, education, healthcare, and justice. Students gain a basic insight into the principles of interdisciplinary cooperation and coordinated approaches when working with at-risk children and their families
