Výstupy z učení
The course focuses on selected contemporary issues in social pedagogy and social work in a European context, with particular emphasis on their forms and solutions in the Czech Republic. Attention is given, for example, to social inequalities, poverty and social exclusion, the mental health and well-being of children and young people, migration and the integration of individuals with migration experience, the prevention of early school leaving, community work, the promotion of children?s and youth participation, and other topics based on students? interests and choices. The course also addresses the role of social pedagogues and social workers in school settings, particularly in work with at-risk pupils, families, and school communities. A key component of the course is its field-based dimension and the integration of theoretical foundations and research evidence with practice through field visits and meetings with practitioners, and discussions with professionals working in these areas, who provide insights into current challenges and possible solutions.
Learning Outcomes After successful completion of the course, students will be able to: - explain key contemporary issues in social pedagogy and social work in a European context; - analyse selected social problems (e.g., inequality, exclusion, mental health, migration) and their impact on children, young people, and families; - evaluate the role of social pedagogy and social work in addressing these issues, particularly in school and community settings; - identify and compare approaches to prevention and intervention, including strategies used in the Czech Republic and other European countries; - apply basic principles of interdisciplinary cooperation when working with at-risk groups; - reflect on field-based experiences and connect them with theoretical and research-based knowledge; - discuss examples of good practice and propose appropriate solutions to selected social-pedagogical challenges; - critically assess current trends and emerging issues in social pedagogy and social work.
