Obsah předmětu
Main topics: - Definition and core characteristics of stuttering (balbuties). - Causes and risk factors (neurophysiological, psychological, environmental). - Manifestations: repetitions, prolongations, blocks. - Differences between childhood and adult stuttering. - Psychological impact on well-being and communication confidence. - Principles of assessment and diagnostic procedures. - Differential diagnosis of fluency disorders. - Traditional speech therapy techniques (breathing, phonation, fluency exercises). - Modern therapy approaches (CBT, fluency shaping, stuttering modification). - Practical training through case studies and clinical examples. - Interactive learning: videos, quizzes, online exercises, role-play. - Strategies for stress management and anxiety reduction in therapy. - Professional support and destigmatization of stuttering in practice.

The course focuses on stuttering as a fluency disorder, including its characteristics, causes, manifestations, and diagnostic procedures. It introduces both traditional and contemporary therapeutic approaches and highlights the psychological impact of stuttering on communication and well-being. Emphasis is placed on practical application through case studies, clinical examples, and interactive learning. Teaching is delivered through a blended learning approach combining online study with face-to-face sessions. Students engage in video-based learning, interactive tasks, and practical training, including role-play and simulated clinical situations, with a focus on reflection, feedback, and the transfer of knowledge into practice.
Learning Outcomes: After successful completion of the course, students will be able to: - explain the core characteristics, causes, and manifestations of stuttering; - distinguish between childhood and adult stuttering and identify key differences; - describe principles of assessment and differential diagnosis of fluency disorders; - apply basic traditional and modern therapeutic approaches (e.g., fluency shaping, stuttering modification, CBT); - analyse the psychological impact of stuttering on individuals? communication and well-being; - demonstrate basic practical skills in diagnostic and therapeutic situations through case-based tasks; - propose strategies for managing stress and anxiety in therapy; - apply supportive and destigmatizing approaches in professional practice.
