Obsah předmětu
Main Thematic Areas of the Course - Education of pupils with intelectual disabilities (ID). Education and training of pupils with mental disabilities in individual types of facilities. Characteristics of educational programs for primary and secondary eucation, interdisciplinary relationships, cross-curricular topics. Educational program of one-year and two-year practical schools. Teaching methods and forms of work, didactic - principles. Strategies in the education of pupils with ID and their individual integration. Current possibilities for supporting pupils with ID in a mainstream school environment. The issue of social inclusion of pupils with ID - Modification of pedagogical approaches with regard to the level of intelectual disability, specifics of the personality of individuals with mental disabilities. Specifics of teaching subjects to pupils with intelectual disabilities in primary schools, special primary schools, and one-year and two-year practical schools. Methodology of initial reading, writing, and arithmetic, its application and modification with regard to mental disabilities. Overview of suitable teaching materials. - The social skills of the teacher as an integral part of the intervention pedagogical process. Challenges in the area of individual integration of pupils with ID. Individualization of educational and didactic goals, content, methods, and strategies at work, specifics of children with ID.

The course focuses on the education of pupils with intellectual disabilities in various educational settings, including mainstream and special schools. It introduces key educational programmes, teaching methods, and didactic principles, with emphasis on individualisation, support measures, and social inclusion. Attention is also given to adapting teaching strategies to the needs of learners with intellectual disabilities.
Learning Outcomes After successful completion of the course, students will be able to: - describe educational systems and programmes for pupils with intellectual disabilities; - explain teaching methods, didactic principles, and instructional strategies used in their education; - adapt educational approaches according to the level of intellectual disability and individual learner needs; - apply basic methods for teaching reading, writing, and mathematics to pupils with intellectual disabilities; - identify appropriate teaching materials and support measures for inclusive and special education settings; - analyse the possibilities and challenges of integrating pupils with intellectual disabilities into mainstream education; - evaluate the role of social inclusion and interdisciplinary cooperation in education; - reflect on the importance of teachers? social and professional competences in working with pupils with intellectual disabilities.
