Course content
Students become familiar with the theory of the concept-formation process. They are introduced the arithmetic needed for illustrative ideas about natural numbers and numerical operations and the theory of simple word problems. Attention is paid to basic geometric concepts in pre-school education, geometric shapes, principles of measurement, geometry in a square grid, modeling, spatial orientation and the development of geometric and spatial imagination.

Learning outcomes
The course aims to cover key topics related to mathematical literacy and mathematical thinking of pre-school children.
Student after successful completion of the course will be able to plan, conduct and evaluate teaching in the fields of educational work with small materials and construction activity in primary school. The student knows the principles of learning psychomotor skills, is able to set educational goals and benefit from adequate educational methods, forms, policies and resources. Students are able to practice in their own operations to apply the acquired knowledge of technology, knows the basic technical materials and control technology to work with them. Students observe the principles of safety and hygiene. Demonstrated creativity and resourcefulness in selecting suitable working themes taking into account the age peculiarities and abilities of the children.
